James A. McAlister, III
Jimmy McAlister, or "Jimbo" to his many friends, is owner and operator of the James A. McAlister Funeral Home. He is a fourth generation funeral director and has worked in this profession since 1985. He and his wife Philippa have three children: James IV, Catherine, and John.

Melissa L. Clarke
Melissa joined the team in June of 2008, and currently serves as a student Funeral Director and Embalmer, where she is involved in all aspects of the funeral process. She has already completed her apprenticeship. Melissa also manages the daily operations in our office, filing death certificates, insurance claims, and making sure the many details of serving our families are handled in a timely and professional manner.
She previously worked for Mediterranean Shipping Company, where she worked in the cost control division. She left the shipping business in 2006 to pursue her lifelong dream of a career in Funeral Service, and is now an integral part of the James A. McAlister team. She looks forward to many more years of service to our families.
Melissa resides in Ladson with her son Robby. She is currently in Mortuary School at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood and will be completing her degree soon, and will become fully licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in South Carolina.

Rodney J. Pendell
Rodney J. Pendell has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for over twenty years, and has been part of our firm since 2010. An accomplished embalmer and restorative artist, Rodney leads our team in the preparation of loved ones for the families we serve. He also works directly with our families as an Arranger, and is actively involved in all phases of our services.
Rodney graduated in 1989 from John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN, where he completed his Associate of Arts in Mortuary Science.
He is a staff member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church on James Island, where he has served as Organist since 2002. He also maintains a small private studio of organ students, and presents them in recital each spring.
Rodney moved to Charleston in the summer of 2002, and has been active in Funeral Service since he began helping out after school and on weekends at the McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, TN. "James A. McAlister Funeral Home is the best example in Charleston of a firm that demonstrates the small-town values I learned early in this profession. I look forward to many years serving the families of Charleston with our caring dedication."

Trisha joined our firm in October, 2012. She graduated from Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC in 2006, with an Associate Degree in Funeral Service. Prior to that, she was Front Office Supervisor for the medical office of Dr. George Durst, Jr. of Sullivan's Island. After experiencing the deaths of her grandparents and her aunt, Trisha realized that her true calling in life was in Funeral Service.
Trisha has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 2008. She is currently enrolled at Charleston Southern University, and is working to complete her Bachelor's Degree.
Since joining our team, Trisha has been actively involved in all areas of our firm's services, including arranging funerals with our families, preparation of their loved ones, and conducting funerals. She also has been actively involved in the Merchandising facet of our profession, and will be using these skills at our firm. Trisha is a gifted Funeral Director and Embalmer, and we are privileged to have her on our team.
A graduate of Wando High School, Trisha was raised in Mount Pleasant, where she resides with her son Dason.

Rebecca M. Imholz
Rebecca Imholz is our licensed Funeral Director and Insurance Agent responsible for Advance Funeral Planning and Community Outreach. In addition to planning events for our families we've served, such as our Annual Holiday Service, "Remembering Our Loved Ones," Rebecca is also active in our community. She is Immediate Past-President of Lowcountry Senior Network (LSN), the premiere networking group of senior service providers, and she serves on the Leadership Team for SC Aging In Place Coalition. Rebecca partners with members from both organizations to give free presentations throughout our community on topics important to us all as we age.
